The Project
British EPC was appointed to undertake a Commercial EPC assessment for Gieves & Hawkes at its iconic No. 1 Savile Row headquarters in London.
Situated at the entrance to one of the world's most famous tailoring streets, the historic property combines luxury retail with bespoke workshops, made-to-measure and military departments and archive facilities.
Following the successful London instruction, British EPC was subsequently appointed to undertake the Commercial EPC assessment for the Gieves & Hawkes Birmingham store.
From No. 1 Savile Row to Birmingham – British EPC was trusted to provide Commercial EPC assessments across multiple Gieves & Hawkes locations.
No. 1 Savile Row, London
No. 1 Savile Row has been associated with Gieves & Hawkes for more than a century.
The William Kent-designed property combines historic construction with the operational requirements of a modern luxury retail and tailoring business.
Assessing a heritage property of this nature requires careful consideration of both the original building fabric and the modern heating, cooling, ventilation and lighting systems introduced through successive refurbishments.
The Mailbox, Birmingham
Following the Savile Row project, British EPC subsequently carried out the Commercial EPC assessment for the Gieves & Hawkes store at The Mailbox in Birmingham.
The Birmingham location provides the company's luxury retail collection alongside bespoke, made-to-measure and alteration services.
The subsequent Birmingham appointment demonstrated British EPC's ability to support an established national brand across multiple commercial locations.
Our Approach
Each property was assessed individually in accordance with the applicable Non-Domestic EPC methodology.
British EPC reviewed the building construction together with the heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting and associated building services relevant to each location.
The two properties presented distinctly different assessment environments: a historic Savile Row headquarters in Central London and a modern luxury retail unit within one of Birmingham's principal mixed-use destinations.
The Outcome
Two Commercial EPC instructions for one of Britain's most historic luxury tailoring houses.
The projects demonstrate British EPC's experience working with established national brands and assessing commercial properties ranging from heritage buildings to modern city-centre retail premises.
They also demonstrate something particularly important to British EPC:
Clients who use us for one property frequently return when further Commercial EPC requirements arise elsewhere within their portfolio.
